Obtained Funding for 155th Street Improvement
I initiated the application for obtaining funding for the 155th Street Improvement project in 2014. While it took years and several revisions of the application, Ultimately, after years of being the only presenter the application to the awarding agency was gaining more support.
Finally, with additional support from City staff, the city was finally awarded over 7 million dollars for improving 155ths street.
Provident citizens with a safe, embracing and walk able environment along 155th Streets was the primary goal of the project..

Obtained Funding for Parallel Road Improvement
I was heavily involved with completing the application and the lead presenter on Parallel Road Improvement, which resulted in saving for the residents of Basehor. The funding obtained was approximately 5 Million dollar.
Getting Residents (and students) safely to and from the Library was a goal for submitting the application for funding for the Parallel Road Improvement project.
This project is still under construction. However: without my involvement i obtaining the fund, the project would not be leading to fruition.

Since 2012, I advocated for more parks and park land
While I was told "it not the biggest bang for the buck", I know everything can not be measured in terms of money.
The quality of life impact of having parks is must superseded the "biggest bang for the buck comments, so I kept pushing for more park land.
In 2001, Basehor had only one Park and approximately 11 achers of Park land.. Since 2012, I have advocated tor obtaining more park land and since that time, we have more than double the park land for our residents.
Just take a look around Basehor and the benefits of more park land.

In March 2012 (March 29, 2021), I had my first interview as a City Council member with the Basehor Sentinel news paper. During that interview, I was asked about the pending growth in the Basehor area. My reply "the city is primed for growth", but "growth that is uncontrolled, I think can be detrimental' I said it then and I have continue to work for growth that will benefit (all) of Basehor.

I do not believe in tax and spend. While services must be maintained, streets repaired as well as other City operated activities. the city must maintain a budget that can support the day to day operations of the City. This should be able to be done without an additional tax burden on the people of Basehor.
I feel the impact with each tax season and realize that my tax bill has increased every year to the point that my taxes are now tripled (3 times) as they were with I moved to Basehor.
